National Boards & Committees
AGA's National Boards and Committees Make Things Happen!
More than 300 AGA members are making things happen as members of National boards
and committees. As with most professional associations, AGA relies a great deal
on its boards and committees to tackle challenges, propose solutions and serve
members. The great strides we have made as a professional association would not
have been possible without the tireless efforts of our exceptional board and
committee leaders.
You can develop your leadership skills while contributing to the growth of the
financial management profession
Join us on one of AGA's six National boards or nine National committees--your
leadership might just be the most important contribution you will make to the
profession and to your own career! Active participation in an AGA National
board or committee can lead to important leadership positions within AGA and
perhaps even within your own organization.
Take advantage of the exceptional opportunity to:
- Contribute to the growth and success of your professional association
- Develop solutions to meet present and future challenges
- Expand your leadership skills
- Gain insight into the financial management and association management arenas
- Network with a dynamic group of accountability professionals

The options are endless
With six boards and nine committees to choose from, AGA members can get involved in
a variety of activities, including:

and standards

Commitment
- All board and committee term dates begin July 1
- Boards terms run for one, two and three years, depending on the Board
- Audit Committee and Conference Committee terms run for one year, and all other
committee terms run for three years
- Member can expect to spend an average of two to four hours per week reading AGA
material, preparing for AGA activities and communicating with other board and
committee members
- AGA reimburses all board and committee members for costs associated with
official AGA business, but in most cases, very little travel is involved.
Qualifications
- If you are an AGA member in good standing, able to serve a full term of office,
and able to participate in board and committee meetings (most via conference
calls), you are qualified to serve!
- In some instances, the board or committee membership composition is limited to
individuals with specific experience or to individuals who have served in other
capacities. The description of each board and committee contains these details.
Vacancy Process
- AGA solicits board and committee member candidates each spring. The National
President-elect works with the board and committee chairs to fill leadership
vacancies
- AGA works to ensure that each Board's and committee's membership, taken as a
whole, is representative of the Association membership
