Other National & Local Awards

In addition to the awards already described, AGA has other national awards presented by committees other than the National Awards Committee. For general information purposes, a brief description of these awards follows.

National President's Award

The Association's National President presents special Presidential Awards to recognize individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the success of the Association's programs during that President's term. The National President is responsible for identifying and selecting those individuals so honored.

National Treasurer's Awards

AGA recognizes the contributions of the Association's National Treasurer.

Author's Awards

The Association sponsors an Author's award in recognition of the best written articles appearing in The Journal of Government Financial Management during the previous program year. Award winners are selected by the Journal Editorial Committee. Details on eligibility and selection criteria are available from the National Office.

Newsletter and Website Awards

The annual newsletter editor and website contests are designed to recognize the outstanding efforts of AGA's chapter communicators. Entries for each contest are judged by a panel of former award recipients, who choose one first place and one honorable mention award recipient in each chapter group. Awards are presented every year during the PDC. All chapters are encouraged to participate. Contest details are publicized each spring.

Chapter Recognition Awards

The Chapter Recognition Awards Program recognizes individual chapter performance and provides a standard by which each AGA chapter maintains a well-rounded operation for the professional growth of its members. Details about this program are contained in the AGA publication titled, Chapter Recognition Program Book.

Membership Awards

Each year, the National Membership Committee develops a membership recruitment campaign to encourage chapters and members to recruit and retain a diverse membership. The committee establishes membership goals for each chapter in the areas of overall growth, new member acquisition and retention. Those chapters who meet or exceed their goals are recognized at the end of the program year at the annual conference. Top honors are also given to those individuals who recruit the most members. Other incentives such as trips and merchandise are also awarded to individual members who participate in the membership program.

Regional Vice President Recognition Awards

Each year, the National President-Elect, in consultation with the Senior Vice Presidents for Regional Services, acknowledges these superheroes with special awards that recognize their exceptional service and stupendous efforts.
